About the Book

Legend captures the spirited journey of a young, Christian, married couple, which relocates from their luxury apartment in Toledo, Ohio to Los Angeles in search of greater opportunities in life. But they wind up living in South Central, and have to face all the challenges of the ghetto.

The story evolves around lead character Jerry Allen Graham, a former high school teacher, who has aspirations to make it in the modeling industry. But unlike his wife Debra, who had lived the LA lifestyle in the past, finds out that "Tinsel Town" wasn't all that it was hyped up to be.

Jerry quickly realized that sunny beaches didn't pay the bills, and the Grahams found themselves living paycheck-to-paycheck working for a temp agency. His ambition eventually lands him in several surreal situations, from a spot in a star-studded rap video to being pushed to the limit as a recruit in the California Sheriff's Academy.

The daily episodes of the newlyweds relying on Jesus Christ for strength, and just trying to love each other in the midst of their chaotic environment, gives Legend a captivating realism.

Justen A. Grant earned a B.A. in Communications/Journalism from the University of Toledo. Currently, he is an English teacher for Toledo Public Schools. He formerly worked as a writer for The Toledo Journal.
