About the Book
Reagill Wood is situated on the boundary of Cumberland and Westmorland, in Northern England, on the edge of the Secret Valley. The Secret Valley is the home to the last of the Unicorns. The Unicorns travel from the Secret Valley to the Enchanted Wood every night to drink the beautiful clear water from the magic spring. The clear water bubbles up from the ground, but nobody knows where it comes from. It passes through the wood into the pond then finally disappears underground, lost forever via a small stream known as Blind Beck. It is this beautiful water that has kept the Unicorns alive for hundreds of years and is the secret to their existence. Without the magic spring they would have to return to the sea to become simple sea horses again. But as long as the magic spring bubbles from the ground, the Unicorns could stay in the Secret Valley forever.
About the Author
First time author, Gordon Hastings, is the owner of Reagill Wood, in Cumbria and is a lover of birds and animals. Regular visits to his wood have provided him with the setting for the story as well as some of the characters. Part of the story takes the reader to one of the Greek Islands, which is where Gordon first started writing this book on the beach in Laganas. Friends and family have been the inspiration for all of the wonderful characters in the book.
