About the Book
The purpose of this book is to give hope to those people who have cancer or a debilitating degenerative disease and to disseminate important information of an experimental treatment that is available today, a treatment that we believe is the most cutting-edge technology available in the world today and will be the basis of treatment of many diseases (now classed as incurable) in the future.
This is a true story of one man's struggle and triumph against a recurring malignant lymphoma.
My husband was diagnosed with his third recurrence in the stomach and bone marrow. He had a sub-total gastrectomy in 1992, radiation therapy in 2003 and chemotherapy in late 2004.
By July, 2005, he was losing weight, tired all the time, very pale and in extreme pain. The next treatment was going to be high-dose chemotherapy with a bone marrow transplant. Instead he had a purified, potentiated cord blood stem-cell treatment without any chemotherapy.
Four months later he is in great health:
- he has gained 11 kilograms in weight
- he does not have any pain
- he has an abundance of energy
- he is no longer pale and gaunt
- he has muscles and is strong
In short, he does not have any symptoms of the cancer and has his quality of life back.
About the Author
Sue is a Registered Nurse Division 1 and has lived with her partner/husband, Julian, for 19 years. Together they have raised and enjoyed two children from Sue's previous marriage, Michelle and Michael (now adults with families of their own).
Julian was studying a Biotechnology Science Degree when he was first diagnosed with Marginal Zone Gastric Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and underwent a surgical sub-total gastrectomy (removal of two-thirds of his stomach) in an emergency operation following a catastrophic haemorrhage.
It was Julian's background in biotechnology that gave him a theoretical understanding of stem-cells that led them to find a treatment that they believe has saved his life and certainly, at the very least, has given him back his 'quality of life'.
They live in Melbourne, Australia and this is their story of struggle against a recurring malignant disease.
Julian (an avid artist and pupil of tai-chi, amongst other things) is writing a book about his long and arduous experience and existential angst which culminated in them travelling to Spain for treatment and then to Wudang Mountain, China and is titled Touching Hands with the Mountain; Terminal Illness. Philosophy & Action.
