About the Book

Meditative Moments

  • covers the entire New Testament, and not just selected passages.
  • provides a concise overview of the New Testament with brief, well-researched reflections.
  • serves as a memory refresher foe those already familiar with scripture study.
  • provides a speedy reference, or an additional resource, for pastors, pastoral ministries and catechists.
  • guides the novice scripture reader through small, manageable daily segments.

For those seeking spiritual nourishment, reflections cover care of self, concern for family and friends, prayer, suffering, social justice, women's issues, and environmental concerns. Those wishing to express their own insights will find a brief space in which to jot down an impression gleaned from their daily reading and reflecting.

Forword

MEDITATIVE MOMENTS allows you to create an island of peace in your busy day. You can begin in any month, on any day. This is a spiritual pilgrimage that can be traveled many times. Each time the journey will be different, just as each year of your life is unique.

In this book, the complete New Testament is covered unhurriedly over 365 days. Each day gives a scriptural reference along with a selected verse or two. For these, I have used the New Revised Standard Version because of its inclusive language and its lyrical flow. But you should use your own favourite Bible.

The daily reflections have been carefully researched, and are deliberately brief so that your daily visit leaves you time to listen to God's revelation to you.

The section, Personal Discernment, allows you just enough space to record an impression of God at work in your life.

In a word or phrase you can reflect on how well you have been nurtured by the Word, and in what areas you feel challenged to grow. You may wish to keep notes on your private visit with Jesus and the many complex and wonderful characters of scripture who delight and disturb. This is a place to summarize your scripture experience, - but only if you choose. Don't hesitate to comment on your physical, mental, or spiritual health, or to add your own prayer.
