About the Book

There is terror in paradise - and Chris Rainey must run for his life!

The island Republic of San Felipe somewhere in Southeast Asia is described in travel ads and posters as 'The Last Paradise on Earth' and Chris Rainey falls for it.

But when he goes there with his friend Joseph Devereaux, he discovers that it is a veritable hell.

The people live in terror under the rule of a dictator who maintains power with the help of the American Government.

Caught in the intrigues and machinations of politicians, revolutionaries and the CIA, Joseph Devereaux is murdered.

Chris Rainey sets out to find his killers with the aim of bringing them to justice. In the process he learns justice is a word without meaning in San Felipe.

The search also leads him to uncover a CIA plot designed to frighten the dictator into allowing a U.S. military base on the island.

Chris's knowledge of the plot compels CIA agents to seek his 'termination with prejudice' - and he runs for his life. Only the sacrificial love of a woman enables him to escape a horrible death.

About the Author

Nestor R. Canoy, M.D., is a retired diagnostic radiologist and radiation oncologist. He and his wife, Lolita-Montano Canoy, M.D., a retired gynecologist, now reside in Columbia, MO. They both practiced in the Philippines after their post-graduate training in the U.S. from 1956 to 1972. They came to the U.S. with Senator and Mrs. Justiniano Montano seeking political asylum when Mr. Marcos declared martial law in the Philippines. Senator Montano has been called the Sir Galahad in Philippine politics, fighting graft and corruption in high places. He has been a member of the Philippine Legislature since 1933. In 1969, he sponsored a bill in Congress impeaching President Marcos for graft and corruption, tampering with the 1969 Presidential election, and brazenly using the Philippine Army besides his own private goons terrorizing voters during his re-election bid for the Presidency. Senator Montano, who is the father of Dr. Lolita-Montano Canoy, returned to the Philippines shortly after Mr. Marcos was booted out of the Philippines in a unique peaceful revolution of the Filipino people. Dr. Canoy wrote his biography three years ago, entitled The Crusader from Cavite, Philippines, widely distributed in the Philippines.

Reuben R. Canoy is the younger brother of Dr. Nestor R. Canoy. He is a lawyer, journalist, radio and TV commentator and a politician. He was the press relation officer of President Marcos during his second term of office. He resigned from his post shortly after President Marcos declared martial law. He became an active spokesman against the militant action of President Marcos. In 1983, he wrote and published a book in the Philippines entitled The Counterfeit Revolution. In detail, he exposed the sinister plot of President Marcos together with the Philippine Army and his goons in staging and upgrading the communist insurgent activities in the Philippines as a legal reason for him to declare martial law. President Marcos found favor with the U.S. at that time when th U.S. was staging a cold and actual war against Communism. This book almost cost the author his life.
