A striking, recently widowed, young woman struggles with managing the hotels her husband left her.
Travelling to Hawaii, Cassandra Breneman learns that The Tahitian, her charming old Waikiki hotel, is deeply troubled and near failure. Reservations have dropped and revenues have fallen drastically, while a strange succession of maintenance crises is crippling the hotel and threatening to put it out of business.
Jade Moon, her manager, is suspected of mismanaging the hotel while the maintenance supervisor, Tim Hawkins, is buried under ongoing, unexplained plumbing and electrical mishaps caused by an unknown group outside the hotel.
Both Jade Moon and Tim Hawkins are not who their records indicate they are. Tim cannot reveal his true identity, frustrating him in his relationship with Cass.
cass and Tim are puzzled by how quickly strong personal feelings develop between them. This distraction is becoming an obsession. Their mutual attraction is all consuming, but something always comes up to pull them apart.
While confilct and crises threaten their relationship, their brief encounters paint an awesome portrait of what their life would be like together. Their anticipation grows and grows until all else is secondary.
In a whirlwind, stormy, comical, and bizarre relationship, Cass and Tim eventually solve the problems at the hotel and, finally, identify the group that is sabotaging The Tahitian.
With each of their adventuresome romps, Tim and Cass sense their feelings for each other growing stronger until they fall hopelessly in love, and, they learn that their Nightsongs are likely to last forever.
