About the Book
Sartenious Blude, a fairly bright young scientist and soldier, was born in 2215 in London, England, Earth. His parents (whose names are unknown), also very prominent scientists, passed away when Sartenious was only a year old. The causes of their deaths were unknown.
Forced to raise himself, Blude moved to America, where he had enrolled into the United States Science Academy (which by that time was a department of the Air Force). Blude was only five years old at the time, but he was highly intelligent and always exceeded everyone both physically and mentally.
By age ten, Sartenious Blude was already commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force and received many outstanding medals. At age fifteen, Blude has advanced to Captain and led his first command a year later (which by the way will become his crew on a journey which they will never forget).
Years later, at the age of twenty-one, Sartenoius Blude (now a Lieutenant Colonel), has been chosen by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) to lead the most important space exploration assignment of all time. This operation, called Project Grybdon, will open up new opportunities and engage in distinct relations with beings from another world. But little does Blude know, this project will go haywire and him and his crew will be faced with undo circumstances, which will involve them in an intra planetary war.
Little do the people back on Earth know, Blude and his crew will not only be on the journey of their life, but they will have exhausted all chances of ever returning home (as a matter of fact, they never do).
Our heroes go to a world called Grybdon, which is thousands of light years away from Earth, to find that it is highly corrupted, evil, and without a government. Their only known leader in Kawn, a middle aged ape man, whose parents were killed by an unknown cause (similar to that of Blude’s), who unfavorably made himself the sole ambassador to his planet. As you will see, Blude’s arrival will undoubtedly change Grybdon for the better and Kawn’s life will never be the same. As for Blude and his crew, they will have to deal with more than they were trained and bargained for. But in the end, good shall triumph over evil.
As our story progresses, people back on Earth will soon forget about poor Blude and his courageous crew and all communication will be lost once Blude’s ship (the USS Gravitron) leaves Earth’s solar system. Our heroes will also soon forget about Earth, but they realize it is for a good cause. Besides, they and Kawn get along real well.
About the Author
Erik Strunk, born on June 12, 1975 in Quincy, Illinois, USA to the proud parents, Ernie and Linda Strunk. Strunk was a slow learner all his life, and was always asked to work harder than most people his age in order to be successful. His parents always pushed him to do the right thing. Strunk has also been picked on much in his life, but he over came all difficulties and came out ok. Many of Strunk’s characters were based on himself and his life experiences. Sartenious Blude, for example, was the complete opposite of Strunk himself, and was the type of man Strunk always strived to be.
Like Blude, Strunk also did some time in the service and was uncertain about family and future, like in the chapter where Blude begins asking his bride about their future on Grybdon. Strunk indeed had the same thought in his own marriage. Blude’s Gravitron crew was basically people who respected Blude for who he is, as Strunk realizes that the way people see him. On the other hand, the villains in the story were considered outcasts, which Strunk feels sometimes he is. Like our villains, Strunk too gets punished when something is done wrong. But Strunk would be more like our villain, Trake. Like him, Strunk was always wanted to be his own boss, but always seemed to fail. For example, Strunk opened up a delivery service, which failed due to lack of funds. But Strunk, Like Trake, looked on the bright side of things and moved on.
Now the good part, how Strunk compares his own marriage to that of Blude’s. Strunk met his bride from a marriage agency and the two corresponded for several years, before finally meeting in person and getting engaged in Fall of 2000. They were separated almost a year and a half, but his fiancée finally came into the states in July 2001, and the two were happily married a month later. Strunk’s wife was the former Alla Melnikova of St. Petersburg, Russia, where life was similar to that of Planet Albacore. So being proud of his own wife, Strunk decided to name Bludé’s wife after her.
Unlike Stunk, who was the oldest of four children, Blude was an only child who basically grew up along. So the two lives are similar, yet completely different. So as you read The Adventures of Super Ape and Blude, try to picture yourself in Blude’s life, and determine whether or not that life on another planet is the same or different than that of Earth. Our characters will return in the sequel, The Return to Grybdon: The Comeback of Super Ape and Blude.
Strunk is a minister of God's Living Words Ministry and has a Dr. of Divinity.
