About the Book
The seven churches of Revelation and the Book of Life are treated together with God's criteria for eternal life in Old and New Testament times, and acceptable worship using David as the 'apple of God's eye' as an example, even though he was an adulterer, murderer, polygamist, poor father, and warrior-king with blood on his hands.
The Book of Revelation is the Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Apostle John about 94-95 AD. Jesus has the last word after Old Testatment prophets and New Testament authors recorded events and observations of Jesus' earthly ministry. Jesus finalizes the record as He is the Omega.
The seven churches of 'The Book of Jesus' were revealed a mere 60 years after Jesus' ministry. Jesus commends only two of the churches and severly reprimands the other five. These seven churches represent seven church types that have all existed side-by-side through the ages. Singularly there are no other types; but various combinations prevail at the end of the age. Jesus singled out these churches to address problems that He wanted to emphasize.
Jesus loves the church at Philadelphia because it did not deny His name and kept His word; the scriptures. Churches of Philadelphia have existed through the ages and they and their believers are indeed His Church as referred to many times by Jesus and the Apostles. The other churches are dead without the Holy Spirit, contaminated with the world, corrupt with idolatry, lukewarm and or indifferent to our Savior.
