About the Book

The book makes a comparative study of wedding customs and rituals practised under different religious faiths.

"In his interesting and comprehensive book on marriage, Dr. Roy traces the evolution of marriage customs and ceremonies to religious traditions and geographic history. It is particularly interesting to note that several of the customs which are apparently very different in different religious practices and traditions often evolved from some common roots." Foreword

Sheila Copps,

Former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Canadian Heritage
