The path to Nirvana is not easy to tread. It is riddled with dangerous pitfalls, uncertainties and surprises.

So Gursharn S. Zal tells us in this his second collection of poetry in English. Developing and expanding upon themes explored in Mankind, Zal's poetry soars to new sensual, spiritual and creative heights just as the poet himself delves the depths of his own humanity. He reveals what it means to be human, capturing with the lyrical and mystical language we have come to recognize as his unique poetic voice the odd and often contradictory conundrum of human nature. We are, Zal says, both cerebral and erotic creatures, rational and irrational, jealous and loving, joyful and fearful, creative and caring, pure of heart yet capable of terrible cruelty. The human mind can paint rainbows across the sky or darken it with the shadow of hate.

These sensitive, moving and deeply personal poems hold a mirror to our human soul and show us who we are and who we can be if only we would live with love in our hearts. About the Author

I was born in Dalhousie, India but through some twist of fate and circumstances came to live in Toronto, Ontario, where I learned to love the city due to its diversity and the multiculturalism of its people who are beautiful and soul-inspiring. My strong faith in the basic goodness of every human being and ardent desire to help create a better world for humankind inspired me to devote myself to writing poetry. I have published my first book of poems entitled, Mankind (Trafford, 2004). It is a thoughtful collection of human sensitivities to love, joy and the realities of life. My retirement from working life gives me ample opportunity to devote my time to my love of poetry.
