About the Book

The Gift of Today is a memoir about a couple living in a rural community in Northern Illinois, whose rather mundane 25 year marriage was based on rituals and mere existence. The words, "I'll be happy when..." and "I want..." were fairly commonplace, and, at best, brought temporary happiness. Everything changed one day when tragedy struck, and priorities became very clear for the first time. As the couple grew to know each other all over again, they saw things through "new eyes" and realized what had taken a back seat in their marriage. The Gift of Today is a compassionate account of their physical, emotional, and spiritual journey together.

About the Author

Dianne Klancir was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. In 1978, her family relocated to a small rural community about 35 miles southwest of Rockford, Illinois. After the initial culture shock, she grew to like the quaintness and familiarity of living in a small town. She has been a Registered Nurse for 15 years, and currently advocates for developmentally disabled adults in a sheltered workshop. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, writing, theatre, volunteering, watching her daughter coach and play volleyball, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Her favorite vacation destinations are Door County, Wisconsin, and Martha's Vineyard.
