About the Book
While serving as a radioman aboard the USS O'Bannon, 3 February, 1944 until our ship escorted the Missouri for the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay , I kept a diary. During which time our ship earned 12 battle stars, the Philippine Liberation medal with 2 battle stars, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and later warded the Combat Action Ribbon. It is a report on all the action to earn the above awards.
About the Author
I joined the Navy 26 September 1939, and was honorably discharged 11 November 1945. I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee on the GI Bill. Enjoyed a successul sales career in Insurance, and Resort real estate, now retired, I bought what I sold. My wife and I are now retired in a resort/retirement community called fairfield Glade, situated on the Cumberland Plateau in East Tennessee.
