About the Book
The Langstaff history goes back many, many generations in England and the name, Langstaff is recorded as early as 1210. The authors have compiled information that has been available, but not easily accessible to the general reader. Within these pages one is able to get a glimpse of the family history, in Durham, England, before the emigration of George and Sarah (Wilson) Langstaff of Staindrop, Durham County, England to Canada in the early 1830's. This record follows some of their descendants from Bruce Co. Ontario, Durham County, Ontario, on to Michigan, Montana, and back to Canada — Alberta and British Columbia.
In the pages of this book are stories of many families who have descended from Langstaff and the Brinkman families, of Bruce County, Ontario, who joined in marriage not once, but four times! Big neighboring families and limited travel opportunities frequently ensured that a nearby neighbor would be in the family tree.
About the Author
Sharon and Esther grew up in the small communities of McBride, Croydon, Dunster, and Valemount, British Columbia. For the most part, during their adult lives, they have lived and raised their children in the Prince George, B.C. area. They love to travel to the communities of their childhood and connect with their extended family and friends. Every journey back, while developing this project, was a journey of the heart. After many years of researching on and off they decided to not waste those efforts and invited family near and far to share their stories and photographs for the generations to follow. That response resulted in this record. By combining their individual talents and skills they made the commitment in March 2005 and by Sept 2005 began the considerable task of putting it all together. It is their sincerest hope that it is a record that their family will use to continue a personal record of their own life.
