About the Author

Every soldier who spent time in Vietnam should be allowed to tell his story. This author makes no claim of being an expert on the war. However, like thousands of Americans who experienced that time in world history, I was left with more questions than answers. Often disregarded, there is always another side of war.

And that’s the human story; a soldier’s view of being a U.S. Army military policeman. The management of Viet Cong prisoners of war - or even our own soldiers placed in military prisons - is a reflection of this author’s own memory and the recollections of his colleagues.

I’ve been watching the war in Iraq unfold in real time via television, print and the Internet. With the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners of war secured by the men and women in the U.S. Army Military Police, all of the memories came rolling back of my tour of duty in Vietnam.

My name is Frank L. Disney. I live with my partner of 22 years and two dogs in Sacramento, California, where I work for the State of California.
