About the Book
On a nice English summer's morning, Shawn Richardson has an appointment to meet an old friend. Beside being a friend Bill is also a solicitor. Working on Shawn's behalf Bill has looked after Shawn's mums final affairs. Now its time to finish everything, collect his inheritance and move on with his life.
It seemed so easy until he goes to the bank to deposit his cheque. As he waits in line, three people attempt to rob the bank. When one of the robbers tries to club an old lady stood in front of him, Shawn steps in.
Trained in the British Army, and after spending some time with the S.A.S. Shawn was well equipped to deal with the bank robbers. What he was not ready for was the publicity that followed.
It was this publicity that brought him to the attention of Major Joe Harrison. Major Joe is in charge of a small part of the British Diplomatic Service. He controls a few people who do courier work for the government. They mainly pick up documents that are not significant enough to warrant sending an operative from M.I.5 or M.I.6.
Shawn's first job was to go to Toronto to pick up some papers. While waiting for his plane at Manchester Airport, he spots a group of four people waiting to board the same plane as himself. Why they interest him, he's not sure but his senses tell him there is something not quite right with them.
Shawn decides that they are none of his business but feels that he has to tell the Major about them. Joe seems uninterested until Shawn mentions a ring that one of them was wearing.
Next morning Shawn's plans get changed. The Major asks Shawn to go to Vancouver to assist the R.C.M.P. in a search for a girl named Maria.
