My happy young life in Poland was shattered by Hitler's invasion of Poland. Then the Russian invasion came. Extreme difficulties ensued for millions with families destroyed or broken apart. Seeing the horror of war, the concentration camps at the end of the ward is indescribable. Americans organized displaced person camps and new countries for refugees to go to. Coming to america on Liberty Ships, the adventure of a cross country trip on a train; serving in the american Army during the korean War was difficult but satisfying. Enjoying family life in america helped me leave behind the tragedy of war.
