About the Book

My book of poetry was inspired by the courage and fortitude of others, people of my acquaintance, people who became close friends, and also several relatives whom I admire, especially my late 86 year old Mother who fought a brief but very brave fight with cancer, which unfortunately she lost.

My very small sister-in-law was a rock to my poor brother, during his unbearably long illness. She inspired me to write a poem about her.

The poems about the beautiful Canadian scenery are obvious; no where have I come across anything to rival it.

My poem about lonliness is self-explanatory; we have all experienced it I know. My husband made the observation that some of my poems are 'deep'. However, I do not think they are too deep to be understood.

Several people have remarked that my poems are sad. I took exception to this and replied that they are not all sad by any means; some of them are quite happy.

Readers may find my poems to be rather controversal but this is by design, because it is often through controversy that excellence is reached.

About the Author

I have lived in British Columbia for 41 years, having emigrated from Kent in England, when I was 31 years old. My first husband and I pioneered at Barnhartvale on two acres of virgin forest, where we built a large house. We were married for 30 years until his death in 1986.

My second husband and I have been married for 7 years.
