About the Book
The Chinese inherit countless essays and narratives that record every feature of their daily lives. Some of these essays have been embellished as fancy stories. Some are just jottings of incidents. Curiosity is not the only criterion of selection, thoughtfulness and historicity are considered too.
PEACH STEALER is a true story. The teller had actually seen the performance. Even in the nineteenth century this street magic show was still performed in India and had drawn attention from England. The earliest record of this show was in the year 1528. The performers came from Shenxi. How the magicians did it is unknown. But, if we compare some stories such as THAUMATURGY, SORCERY, JU- YOU TRAUMA and LAMA PRIEST, we might get some ideas of that.
Other stories such as DWARF, KWON FU, VENTRILOQUISM, FLOOD and water fight are probably true. A FOREIGN MONK and those dream stories are weird. But they can really enrich our imaginations. Do you think all realities are within the frame of spacetime? Break the barrier, you will see these stories really have something in common with the ideas from modern science.
