About the Book

Next To The Shepherd is a book containing my own personal experience with God and my reactions to each as He led me. The title to each chapter was selecvted to reflect the correlation between my life and the many scriptures in the World of God relating to the shepherd and the sheep.

It begins with my earliest recollections as a small chidl with the events; which played a big part in the fomration of my personality as an adult. I have endeavored to introduce my readers to the people I felt influenced my life the most during my formative years.

I have attempted to keep my reader informed of the changes which took place in my own life when I got married, had children, and pursued the vocations to which I felt God called me. Health, work and weather played a big part in how God met our needs.

All experiences both pleasant and unpleasant are included exactly as they happened to emulate the grace of God who never fails us. My book is written to bless the reader as they relate to the events and recognize God's hand in the solving of these problems. I have found God to be true to His Word and I want the reader to feel the same strength of faith in God.

About the Author

Rev. Elizabeth Audet writes from her own life experiences. I was born on July 3, 1936 in the little town of North Windham, Maine. By the time I was ten the Grant family consisted of ten children, six boys and four girls; I was the sixth child.

I began school on Johnson Hill in a one-room schoolhouse. We moved and I attended a larger school in Mechanic Falls; which included five grades in separate rooms. In my fourth grade we moved to a farm on Harris Hill that again placed me in a one-room school for the rest of my elementary years. I graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1954. This brought about many changes in my life.

My marriage to Maurice Richard Audet on November 27, 1954 was the highlight of my adult life. We attended New England Bible Institute in Framingham, Massachusetts, and Eastern Bible college in Green Lane, Pennsylvania. We completed our ministerial training at Valley Forge Christian College. I also earned my BA degree from Lees McRae College when I was 62 years old.

We have two daughters and two sons: Deborah Elizabeth, Susan May, Michael Richard, and Daniel Maurice. We have twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

My husband and I are both ordained ministers as pastors in several churches in Maine and North Carolina. We have also done the ministry of Evangelists in the east from Canada to Florida. Our ministry has involved us in the planting of four churches over the fifty-two years we have served as ministers.

We have felt the hand of God upon our lives from the first cottage we built and dubbed, "La Palma de la Mano de Dios," (In the hollow of the hand of God) to the mountain chalet (Laurel Chapel) we built in the Blue Ridge Township of North Carolina.

God has never left us nor forsaken us but has held our family in His hands meeting our needs in every situation.

We are still Evangelists wherever God leads us.
