About the Author
Jennifer Mills was born in Calcutta India on 5th November 1939. She was one of the last to be born under the British Raj era, as India was made independent in 1947. She lived and was educated in India up to the age of 15, at The Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi, La Martiniere Girls High School, Lucknow, and Methodist High School, Kanpur, so was able to speak Hindi and knew a lot about the Indian customs. Jennifer returned to Britain on 4th March 1955 with her all of her family. She started writing 'British Raj Morgan' in 1981.
From birth Jennifer's grand-mother, Eva Parnell (nee Morgan), had a big hand in bringing her up. This was partly due to her parents being divorced. From a very young age Jennifer would listen intently to all the family history her grand-mother would relate to her, and being so well informed about her Victorian ancestors' lives, later in her life, she was able to recall this very interesting information to use in her book. Eva was the only child of James and Rebecca Morgan to have children, and by disclosing all the family history to them and her grand-children, it has consequently been handed down to her great-grand children and the generations after, of which there are unaccountable numbers. James' and Rebecca's tree has produced a vast amount of constantly growing branches.
'British Raj Morgans' is a true-life story based on the very extraordinarily interesting lives, filled with great happiness and great tragedies, of Jennifer's great-grand-father and great grand-mother. It gives a lot of historical facts about America, Australia, and particularly India, showing in detail the Indian way of life, and the luxurious life-style of a typical British family living in India during the height of the British Raj era, the like of which may never be matched or experienced ever again in the whole history of the world.
