About the Book
Thirty six year old Detective Constable Ian James is at a crossroads in his life, frustrated by his senior officer's attitude to crime fighting.
Having received counselling to control his temper, and believing he is on the verge of madness, he is surprised to be offered the chance to resurrect his career at the European Drug Control Unit (EDCU), a prestigious new operation set up by the Home Office and funded by Europe.
Transferring to EDCU, James is instantly attracted to his boss's secretary, but as their relationship develops he begins to question the true motive for her interest in him when he suspects her of being involved in drug thefts from the police secure store.
As the pace of the investigation quickens, James finds himself drawn into a web of deceit which threatens to tip him back to the threshold of insanity and, when the arrest of a drug dealer unlocks the truth about the suicide of a murder suspect, old rumours of corruption resurface leading to a startling revelation he dared not consider.
