About the Book

Set in Chah and Wum respectively, in Menchum Division in the North West Province of Cameroon, the novel Vain Labour is an eleven-chapter work which tells the story of a young village boy, Kimbi. Abandoned in the womb by his wicked father, Kimbi, the main protagonist is born and brought-up single-handedly by his poor and down-trodden mother, Mbong. At school, Kimbi proves a genius despite the acute financial constraints and breaks though all odds. As the train of events begin to turn in his favour, Kimbi receives the greatest shock in his life on the radio; the death of his beloved mother. He collapses and is rushed to the hospital. About the Author

Born and bred in Wum in 1972 in the Northwest Province of Cameroon, Nto Denis Kembea attended Government Primary School, Zongefuh in 1978 and completed Government Primary School, Fang, his native land. He attended the then Bilingual Comprehensive College, Wum for two years before switching over to Government High School, Wum, where he obtained both the Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates in 1992 and 1994 respectively. In 1995, he enrolled into the University of Yaounde 1, Cameroon, where he read Geography, but bowed out two years later due to financial constraints.

He started writing during his days as a student in the Unversity. He is auy author of several unpublished works of fiction ranging from prose, plays, short stories, Kids' stories, movie scripts and poetry. He writes non-fiction as well. Vain Labour is his first published work.

He taught English in Brazzaville-Congo in two private schools during the 2001-2002 academic year, where he also involved himself in some commercial activities. At present, he teaches Geography at Osire Junior Secondary School in Namibia as a J.R.S. staff. He is still single.
