Despite all that Laurie-Ann had mastered in her years as a teacher and in her struggle to deal with physical limitations since a car wreck more than three decades ago, nothing down that path prepared her for planning the ultimate lesson: How to watch a beloved die and then go on to find joy and to laugh again.

How do you find joy after loss? How do you move on when all that you thought was you is dead? THE WATER DANCE is, at the core, a love story. It mimics the style of Tuesdays with Morrie, but carries a tone that touches upon the emotional experiences of women, from girlhood to womanhood and motherhood. Interwoven between the storyline of Laurie-Ann's struggle through the death of her soulmate are stories of her maturation. The book details Laurie-Ann's experiences as a little girl with big dreams, to finding the right man after a series of disappointments, and then losing him to cancer at a young age. This book gives readers an inside look into the war of diagnosing and treating cancer; it describes the experience from the mechanics of diagnosis and treatments to the more sensitive matters of dealing with doctors, nurses, friends, and family; managing sickness, meds, therapies, routines; searching for answers, truth, God, reasons, purpose; preparing for death; and moving on.

About the Author

Laurie-Ann Weis holds a Masters Degree in Human Behavior in Psychology and is a Board-Certified Educational Therapist. For nearly 30 years, she has worked with students of all ages who exhibit a broad range of learning disabilities and learning styles. Now she devotes a lot of her time to sharing information about health and disease prevention, and continues to help grievers who've lost partners. Laurie-Ann is also the author of The After Journey, an emotive collection of other people's stories interwoven with vignettes of her own experience.
