About the Book

Glenda Head thought she had found her niche in life, working as a hospice nurse and bereavement care coordinator in Southwest Michigan, helping to care for the physical and emotional needs of dying patients and their families. She never imagined, though, that all of her nursing experience and insights into death and dying would be needed to care for her own daughter Dani, diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in 2003.

While Glenda was working for hospice, she was also writing a weekly column for MailMax, her son's popular advertising paper in Southwest Michigan. From the shocking news of Dani's diagnosis, through the roller-coaster ride of treatments, tests, and surgeries, to her daughter's death two years later, Glenda chronicled in the MailMax the journey of Dani's battle with cancer and eventual death. There was such an avalanche of cards, letters and emails from her readers that Glenda continued to give them glimpses into her heart as she wrote of her own passage through the dark days of grief.

Dani's Last Dance is the story of the love between a mother and her dying daughter, told in an honest manner that is sometimes funny, often touching, and always filled with hope. It's the story of a faith in God that is triumphant even in death. Not only is Dani's Last Dance a gripping story, but it is also filled with practical information for families facing the death of a loved one or struggling through grief.
