About the Author

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Artis was raised most of his life on the southside of the city in the Englewood community. At the age of 17 he began serving in the United States Army and performed his duties in Germany as a medical specialist. Artis also played baseball and tried his hands at boxing while fulfilling his military obligation. In 1981 he recieved his Honorable Discharge. Over the years Artis has worked in the Chicago Pubic School System as a baseball coach. He also volunteers as an motivational speaker for the Black Star Project, a not for profit organization founded by Mr. Phillip Jackson which provides among other services educational and motivational programs for the children and adults throughout the city of Chicago . Artis has also been blessed with the assignment of being the program director of the Chicago Public League Baseball Coaches Association, a not for profit Corporation that also developes and provides positive alternatives through baseball for the youths of Chicago. Atris has earned a academic degree in criminal justice and is presently working in the field of law enforcement. Mr. Artis has adopted the philosophy that "WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WASTE TIME"!
