About the Book

The story of Jake and the story of the Author are one of the same. The author writes about the adventures of Jake because he found it difficult to write about 'me' or 'I'. The purpose of the story was intended to enlighten his children about the person hey knew as Dad. The author had always wished he could have had more insight onto his own father's early years. For that reason, this narrative about Jake began to evolve and eventually, through urgings from family members, found it's way into this from. All the incidents in the tale are true events insofar as time and memory allow. An attempt was made to write it all in a humorous vein, perhaps even silly sometimes, since that's generally how the author views life in general, especially when looking back in time. If those who may read about Jake are able to find some insight into their own lives, the struggle to get these words on paper will be more than rewarded.
