Production on an epic miniseries kicks off in Rome and is immediately the victim of budgetary bloat, out of control producers and a philandering director; while at the Burbank Studios the executives go round and round in the game of Hollywood musical chairs and lives are going to be drastically altered. For the lucky few there is success beyond their wildest imaginings. But beneath the glitter Hollywood is littered with desperate souls, the casualties of ambition, celebrity and money.

And always, lurking in the wings, are the forces of nature threatening to destroy the City of Angels - wildfires, floods and earthquakes, not to mention the low-speed car chases and drive-by shootings. For some, however, the future just might bring champagne and roses.
