About the Book

To say my life has been privileged and exclusive would be an understatement. From the moment I set eyes on Mickey, my life changed from ordinary to gradually, attaining a lifestyle similar to that of a princess or a superstar.

Lacking for nothing materially, when not being driven in a Citroen ID 19 Saloon, I was chauffer driven to wherever I wanted to go - shopping, restaurants, out for morning coffee with colleagues etc. Whenever I was ill, I had private doctors to visit me taken from a list of medics at Mickey's fingertips. Choosing when and how many holidays I wished to take during my years in Germany - no questions asked. I had an exclusive education leading to a finishing school privilege in Germany, learning, studying and finally, teaching in a German school.

The person who made all of this possible was a Major in the British Army - also, a Roman Catholic Priest. Yet despite all of those wonderful privileges, I was so alone, alone with my carefully guarded, hidden secret, a secret I was to keep for many years. What made living this abhorrent loneliness possible was the constant awareness that I was with the man I loved and without him, happiness would have been hopelessly - unattainable. Cocooned for many years in a web of deceit because, the Roman Catholic Church demanded this from us, with their outdated and ancient ruling on celibacy.

After over forty years of living surreptitiously, I can now put an end to a powerful memoir and its encroaching effects it's had on not only my life, but my health too. I have now risen above the sorrow caused by 'elimentum humanum in ecclesia Dei,' (the human element in the Church of God), while still acknowledging the past.
