About the Author

Byrne L. Corbin resides close to the warm waters of Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida. Loving in a tropical environment has been an experience for this Braintree, Massachusetts native accustomed to New England's changing seasons. After being separated from his dear Mother and Grandparents for almost eight years due to their moving to sunny Pompano Bleach, FL, Byrne decided in 1993 to head south and be with them all the time instead of on visits two or three times a year since 1985. It was the best thing he ever did as he was now a constant part of their happy lives especially to the delight of his Grandmother.

Before coming to Florida he was working as a salesman for his father's company while living with his younger brother Gregory in Duxbury, MA. Byrne and Greg not only worked and lived together but even still played together sharing the same friends who shared their love of baseball, skiing, football, cars, motorcycles, girls, concerts, boats, Bobby Orr and Larry Bird with Johnny Most high above courtside. The radio was always on during a Celtics game in our home.

Byrne's older brother James Mathew announced at the age of six that he would like to be a Meterorologist when he grows up. we were always checking the various weather instruments that we had throughout the house of stargazing at night while growing up on Alexander Road in Braintree. A dead end street affording us uninterrupted street hockey and whiffle ball games in the circle at the very end where our house sat. Being the middle of three boys I thought I had the best of both worlds and enjoyed being in the center of the action.

Attending Sacred Heart School in Weymouth Landing with his two brothers for eight years where nuns in full habit helped to develop the young minds there grow to be one of Christ's soldiers. While serving as class president in the eighth grade in 1975 Byrne was also voted class clown. The same year Byrne's grandmother would serve as the town of Braintree's first female State Representative in Boston on Beacon Hill. On October 21st of that same year Byrne and his brother James would find themselves with the other 35 200 fans inside Fenway Park witnessing the Red Sox magically win game six of the World Series forcing a seventh game thanks to a Carlton Fisk home run on the morning of October 22nd, 1975. One of the great moments in sports history and one of the highlights to have been watching from the right field grandstands is etched upon my mind.

Traveling by train, bus, car, or sometimes hitchhiking home from Dorcester while attending Boston College High School where the Jesuits encouraged us to strive for academic excellence while living the Gospel Values on the road to becoming men for others. The challenging four years studying there along with the many wonderful teachers, Brothers, Fathers, Sisters, and friends found there have left their wonderful mark twenty five years later.

After studying at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and Assumption College in Worcester, MA, Byrne worked as a landscaper year-roun and loved being outdoors sharing his Grandmother's fondness of the local flora and fauna.

At night he also worked behind the bar of a local nightclub called the Great Escape and then Escapades where everyone danced, dined, and drank during the eighties on the South Shore.

It was during the mid to late eighties that Byrne worked for his father's company where he sharpened his skills as a salesman throughout New England selling Operable Partitions for churches, schools, hotels, offices and restaurants.

November of 1993 arrived and Byrned packed up his things and moved to sunny south Florida. Whenever he could, he would spend as much time in Pompano Beach, FL where his amazing grandmother and grandfather and mother, Gael, lived.

It is these last five years being together with his dear family that Byrne treasures most. Byrne now enjoys snorkeling, photography, bird watching, writing, exploring the Everglades, traveling the Florida Keys, or riding his bicycle over to Key Biscayne to exercise mind, body, and soul.
