About the Book

'God sneezed...it was good'. This is the heart of everything. Have we taken a wrong turn, while the world moves on without us? We observe and yearn for success. We glorify well-known, famous, successful people we only glimpse from afar. Viewing their glossed-over lives and seeming happiness exhibited day in and day out, we pass judgement on ourselves and the failure we perceive to be our own lives. "But...!", we exclaim. That 'but' is at the center of it all. Tearing at the heart of our existence.

We are part of the body. Do we feel it? Constantly struggling for purpose, calling, a reason for being. Even those in the limelight struggle. Just not so openly. Life... much easier with a map and knowing where to go. Instead, we get direction... the obstacles and detours remain hidden.

We look for guidance. Others march, their path clear. What's wrong? Why can't we see? What should we do? Voices cry from the sidelines... 'Can't steer an anchored boat.' 'Step out in faith.' 'Get out of the boat.' 'Follow your dream.' All truths to keep our heads above water. Still they leave us adrift in the ocean, the sun directly overhead, no land in sight. We step forward, see potential/progress, feel blessed, follow more confidently. But, failing to see what's coming, the trap door opens, boulders nearly crush us, and surrounding flood waters of trouble seem to engulf us. Worse, pounding us back into our hole, we get blind-sided by friends, family or fellow sojourners bearing slings and arrows to bring us down, and often intending to take us out. "But!", again we beg. "Where's God in this?"

Don't fit in? Need direction? Read on! Stories... devotionals... gifts wrapped in hope... An invitation to visit lives of love and service in the real world.
