On the verge of despair, Marianne Quinn knows she has to do two things: change her job and get her life in order. With a foot in two worlds: poverty and hardship, alongside the world of the 'glitterati' and vulgar wealth, she endeavors to free herself from the clutches of a 'fatal attraction' - a love affair that threatens to destroy her. Over the years, she has succeeded in distancing herself, finding alternative employment. But these jobs petered out in takeovers, dismissal or business failure and she is back where she started.
