About the Book

For romance readers everywhere, The Unexpected is a story of trial and tribulation under horrendous circumstances during World War II in Greece, but the novel is also a heart warming love story. The action begins when sixteen year old Christos Christopoulos must decide if he wants to aid a dying Italian soldier in Evia. Arriving on horseback at the site of the soldier’s ambush, Christos is mistaken for an angel.

In the Italian soldier’s pocket is a photograph of his beautiful fifteen year old daughter Marcella. Through an amazing series of events, Christos grows up to become a sea captain who one day lands in the port of Genova, the hometown of Marcella. From that point on the reader is immersed into the blending of two cultures, Greek and Italian. Soon the moment of truth comes for Marcella. Will she marry the man with whom she has fallen so deeply in love or continue to live without the love of her life. The suspense builds when her father decides to visit Evia to relive the moment when he was saved by an angel

About the Author

Born January 30, 1932, in the village of Oxilithos, on the Greek island of Evia, Plato Papajohn is a survivor of World War II and the Greek Civil War. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 and subsequently was the first immigrate, in the history of this country, to become a naturalized American citizen in less than a year. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and currently lives in Birmingham, Alabama. Plato has served as past Master and has achieved a 32nd Degree in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonary. He is also a Shriner.

A successful entrepreneur and avid reader, Papajohn's lifelong dream was to become an author. After raising four children and securing the future of his family business he is now making his dream a reality.

Plato Papajohn has written several books. Stairway to Heaven, is his memoir about heartbreaking experiences during war time. He has received very favorable reviews on his first book.
