About the Book
Facial reconstruction is performed on a twenty-eight-year-old skull found in Hunter’s Forest and the results are published in The Adrietta Bay Gazette. In less than two hours, Celia Carrollton is murdered. Coincidence? Maybe, but Lt. Ted Peters has never liked coincidences. Especially not this kind.
There’s certainly no shortage of suspects. This time there’s a shortage of opportunity. Thanks to a sophisticated security system, Lt. Peters is faced with a locked room situation. He uncovers a maze of clues that reveal secrets from the past, secrets that someone is willing to take desperate measures to keep hidden.
In this second Ted Peters mystery, Ted continues to deal with his own personal problems while discovering that many of those he works with are dealing with change in their lives as well. He discovers the horrifying reason for Sgt. Les Williams’ attitude toward him and forms an unlikely alliance with a local journalist.
Strangely enough, Lt. Peters finds it easier to figure out the who, how, and why of the murder committed twenty-eight years ago in Hunter’s Forest than to uncover the facts in the Celia Carrollton case. Even so, he manages to make someone desperate enough to take measures that could not only end his career but put him behind bars.
Join Lt. Ted Peters on his rollercoaster ride of humor, danger, and almost unspeakable horror.
About the Author
Arlene Harman is a native Californian who learned to read before beginning first grade. Her love affair with books has led to a lifetime of reading and writing.
The world of crime and mystery came naturally to her, especially when you consider that, at the age of eight, she was sneaking her parents Agatha Christie novels out of their room to read in bed under covers at night with a flashlight. When, at the age of twelve, her parents decided she was old enough to read adult mysteries, she happily read all the novels a second time.
It wasn’t long, though, before she found herself thinking about the novels she was reading and deciding how she would have written the scenes. It was a short step from there to writing her own stories. It is hardly surprising that she chose the mystery genre for her novels. It is her aim to present people with stories that focus on solving the crime, not explicit sex, violence, and language.
Arlene shares her love of reading and writing with everyone she can, trying to encourage them to discover the worlds that words can open up to them. One of the ways she is doing this is through her Web site, www.harmanmysteries.com, where she not only posts a continuing series of her own but also short stories written by new authors. In addition, she posts articles on writing and grammar in an effort to help all to better understand and enjoy the writing process.
