About the Book

The novel is a work of fiction but intended to portray the real life in the Wild West as it was in the middle 1800's, beginning before the Civil War and for several years after. The background comes from growing up listening to stories of old Buffalo Hunters, Pony Express Riders and some Indian Fighters and from being a young cowboy in some of the author's favorite West Texas country, chosen as a setting.

About the Author

The Author grew up in the edge of the rough Western Country in a small cowtown among some of the greatest ranches of the West. The author grew up in a strong Christian family and was taught to be honest, clean living and a good neighbor, but to be prepared for violent happenings. Cowboys lead a lonely life and must be prepared to face all types of dangers, mostly alone. Every one was armed with a side arm, usually a revolver, and a rifle for violent things. Sometimes a cowboy is miles from help and can get tangled in a horse scared by a mountain lion, or caught in his saddle and gear. A horse can go berserk and have to be shot in order not to drag the rider to death.
