About the Book

The Art of Tai Chi is for health and Longevity; the Art of War is for War - Killing and Death. Book One is the way to Health while Book Two is the way to wage war. The Author combines these two books into one: The Art of Tai Chi vs. The Art of War.

Book One is the Author's second book. His first book, The Art of Tai Chi: John Kong Tai Chi 100 Forms, was published in 2005. In this second book he shows the way how to develop your own Tai Chi style.

Every Tai Chi doer can develop his/her style by following the steps stated in Chapter two. Chapter's 3, 4 and 5, are for the developers to study the theory of Tai Chi in order to have an individualized prefect style. In Chapter 1, Tai Chi Training is throughly examined and a formula is set out to explain the accumulation of CH'I. The formula is E=MCC (E is energy, M is mind and C is CH'I). Fifty Questions and Answers are in Chapter 6 and a Word List is porvided in Chapter 7.

Book Two is Sun Tzu's the Art of War which is translated into simple modern English. Section 1 is about the author - Sun Tzu; Section 2 is about the translator - John K.H. Kong; Section 3 is the tranlsation. Section 4 is the Popular Quotations from Sun Tzu's statements.

About the Author

I, John K. H. Kong, was born in Hong Kong in 1941. As a little boy I was eager to read all kinds of books even comics in kung fu. When I was twelve years old I learned Tai Chi from my mother who had lived her life for 100 years. After formal education, through primary school to college, I worked as a teacher. In 1971, I moved to Canada and started a new life. I went back to my kung fu interests in order to regain my health and strength since I developed kidney stones, back ache, body fatigue and colon problems in 1986. From 1994 on I did Tai Chi seriously and developed my Tai Chi style, a kind of internal kung fu or martial art. The trainee does not use any equipment outside the body but inside, e.g. diaphragm, heart, spleen, liver, lung and bladder etc.

In 2005, I published my first book, The Art of Tai Chi: John Kong Tai Chi 100 Forms, with Trafford Publishing, Victoria, B.C. Canada. I believe that Tai Chi is a true way to health, and for Tai Chi doers to reach Rejuvenation. It is also the way for the older experienced martial artists and other athletes to regain their youth strength and power from being weaken.

I understand and emphasize that the martial aspect of Tai Chi is originated from The Art of War. In order to prove my point I translate The Art of War into English.

I now live in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
