About the Book

THE NEW COSMOLOGY is a book that dedicates itself, in the first part, to an examination of the newest scientific discoveries in the subatomic field. Here the strangest and most important finding is the existence of a universal consciousness. This has been explained by scientists with a spiritual inclination as pointing to a theory of wholeness in the universe, and best expressed by the Theory of Holness of David Bohm. It is opposed to the materialistic and rationalistic theories of Descartes and Newton that advocated the "I" as the most important element of a universe that had been created by a transcendent creator who had made all matter and laws to govern it, and retired to a distant place in the heavens. Bohm and his followers see the universe as a great whole made by an immanent creator who dwells in every particle of this universe. This first part gives some of the reasons discovered by Quantum Theory scientists for this view.

The second part is dedicated to how we can communicate with this Immanent Creator, who is present in every one of the more than 30 billion particles that make up each of our bodies. After examining the different ways of praying, the authors concludes that this communication can best be achieved by a compassionate way of life. We can best achieve a higher consciousness of the Creator within us by a compassionate life that meditates when it can, but more especially moves from greed to caring in all areas. It includes less competition and more partnership. It means we see the earth and all people as part of Creator within us.

About the Author

Dr. William Schenk, retired university professor with years of teaching in Chile, USA and Venezuela, has had an extremely varied life in his 83 years. First as a missionary priest in Chile, he founded a technical school for youth in a vast slum area, then gathered hundreds of Mapuche Indians into functional communities. From there to student and then professor of the Catholic University of Chile where he found a Center for Orientation destined to help education as a whole. During this time he wrote more than 25 books, booklets and pamphlets for local use.

Disillusioned by the intromission of the Church in politics, he decided to leave and returned to the States, to work for a short time in Community Development, marry and then go on to study for his doctorate with his wife at the University of Pittsburg. In 1971 they accepted an offer from the Institute, later National Liberator Pedagogical University. There Dr. Schenk devoted himself to research and founding a new area of study, Education for Work. Here again the lack of texts led him to write many handbooks and texts that served the immediate need of the students.

In 1993, faced with the fact that his wife was stricken with Alzheimer's disease, he retired to dedicated his life to caring for her. She died in 2002 and he began a recovery of his former love of research. Attracted by the advances in physics and Cosmology, he began doing serious reading and research and learned some of the basics of Astrophysics (the expanding universe) and Subatomic Physics, (the invisible construction of the universe.). This latter appealed to him because of the concept of universal consciousness which many modern atomic physicists interpret as the Immanent Creator. If this is so, how do we communicate with this Infinite Being? This book is the result of his research and findings on this subject.
