About the Book
Carla Bristow, R.N. thought she'd given up the glamour of bedpans, bedsores, suppositories and surly doctors for a second career in the exciting field of private investigation.
With stethoscope in hand, Carla goes undercover at St. Mark's Hospital looking for insurance fraud where once again she fearlessly faces psychotic patients, geriatric sex-pots and satanic doctors.
Nursing isn't for wimps.
And Carla is a wimp who faints at the sight of blood, purulent drainage and green sputum. Carla lives a rare, socially unacceptable lifestyle. She is single, childfree and prefers the company of her elderly cat to the pitty patter of little feet. Her best friend, and mother of three, Kathy Mills, is Super Nurse, a direct descendent of Florence Nightingale, born without a gag reflex, a stethoscope clutched in her altruistic fist and the ability to hold her bladder for twelve hour shifts.
While Carla was descended from cattle rustlers, outlaws and gunslingers, at least according to Grampa Bristow, during his more lucid moments when he wasn't conversing with inanimate objects, spirits and the ghost of Jessie James.
Yet, Carla and Kathy, despite all their differences make the best of friends as well as a good team as they race to identify a doctor killer before an innocent nurse and friend is sent to the slammer for a crime she didn't commit.
