About the Book

Before you say "Oh! Not another book on Football", let me put your mind at ease, well partly at ease.

The aim of this book is to show you, the life of a sportsman involved in various sports, but then through his medical qualifications and sporting knowledge, finds himself in the world of professional football, here in England and overseas.

That person is me, starting with my working career in the Royal Air Force as a Physical Training Instructor, and representing the RAF in Rugby and Athletics, selected to represent Wales at Athletics, before moving into the medical profession as a specialist in Rehabilitation, followed by a conversion course to be a Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. Using that, combined with coaching and teaching qualifications, I moved into sports medicine. All sounds good but with some massive personal problems, a trail of disasters, then a change in my life which started to put things right and bring about a 180 degree change of direction. This led to spending 5 years working with Mission East in Armenia.

This is not a kiss and tell about other people but of my life and involvement in sport.

Bill Shankley once said that football was more important than life, but was he right or wrong?
