About the Book
When George first danced with the Hon. Lucy in Getting A Life (Ontic Books 2004), they were very much aware of each other physically and perfectly mutually attuned, a wholly exceptional relationship, as each well knew. As she floated effortlessly in his arms, he was filled with an incredibly strong emotion it was just something that had amazingly worked out right for them both, a perfect non-verbal communication that had found its first expression in dance. It was something that neither could hide from the other, but she was married to a playboy, and their affair led to divorce which caused George to lose his job and join the army, being soon commissioned.
Getting More Life takes up the story when Lucy, ostracised as a divorcee in the 1950s social climate, is persuaded by her father to consider marriage to Freddy, the rich, charming and elderly Earl of Merton, who needs an heir. It is three years since she saw George and she knows she must meet him again before committing herself, so she asks him to invite her to a big military ball in Dusseldorf. They find that old magic between them is as strong as ever, but George still doubts it would survive his inability to provide her with the sort of life she is used to and tells her to marry the rich earl. But magic is not so easily ignored, and will always find a way...
