About the Author

Born and raised in the Hamilton area, Kevin O'Brien resides in Ancaster, Ontario with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children. Kevin received his diploma in Industrial Engineering from Mohawk College in 1977. After graduating with honours, he accepted a position with Dofasco Steel.

Through a family tragedy he became involved in estate planning issues and probate fees. This compelled him to seek a career as a financial planner. Having completed the necessary courses and industry educational requirements, Kevin left the steel industry in 1988 to start his own company, Kevin O'Brien and Associates.

Kevin has obtained his CFP designation and is persistent in upgrading his professional qualification through continuous education and advanced courses on retirement and estate planning. Kevin has earned numerous awards and merits of distinction throughout his financial planning career.

Kevin is a Paul Harris recipient from the Rotary Club of Hamilton Mountain and is instrumental in organizing and running the annual Cancer Assistance Program's Classic Golf Tournament. Kevin also serves as an officer for the RCAC and is a reserve officer for the RCAF. Kevin promotes aviation through his involvement with the local air cadets' squadron, the 779 Black Knights.

Although this is Kevin's first book, he is no stranger to writing articles for the financial planning industry and for his company's quarterly newsletter. Kevin's practice is geared toward the fifty+ age group with investment assets in excess of $250,000. Kevin has a strong proven track record with conservative value style managed investment accounts.

Kevin has successfully grown Kevin O'Brien & Associates into Canada's leading retirement and estate planning provider.
