About the Book
This is the story of three people who through unforeseen circumstances are thrown together to experience the hardship and rigours of warring tribesmen in the African jungle.
The black men are out to prevent them from escaping, but Dodds, Robert and Helen have other ideas. They enlist the help of a roadroller-cum-crane on railway wheels, the Iron Duke, which transports them to safety through the natural beauty of the sometimes inhospitable, cruel African jungle with its wild animals, and vast desert plains.
This tale of adversity has all the hallmarks of a gripping story of tribal lust and a fight against hunger and thirst, violence and physical force, culminating in the tender union of the principal characters.
About the Author
Phil Arnold is a prolific author, publishing his first book Seven Holes in England, a terrorism thriller set in the south-east of England, at the age of 79, and his second The Brighold, a horror tale of mystery and suspense, followed soon after.
His third book The Iron Duke reflects the fact that he travelled widely in the African continent when a Merchant Navy sailor.
Phil served his time as a cook in the RAF. He is a trained carpenter and was also the assistant stage manager of the Theatre Royal, Chatham, Kent, in 1954.
Now in his retirement years, Phil has taken up writing full time and says he has so many ideas just waiting to see the light of day, in fact his fourth book is already coming to fruition.
