About the Author

Elwayne Kettle is a native of the island of Jamaica, born October 30, 1965, the son of Eda and Astley Kettle. Elwayne grew up in a rough neighborhood in Eastern Kingston, Jamaica. His love for poetry came an early age while attending the Allman Town Primary School. At age 11 he had to recite a poem for his final grade and received an "A". His love for poetry grows and his poetical skill began at the age of 13. His pass time was writing poems, short stories, compose music lyrics and cooking. At that time most of the cooking in his home was done by him.

After graduating from Allman Town Primary School he attended Holy Trinity Secondary School, he was the first boy to register for home economics class for both practical and theoretical teaching in cooking and baking. Elwayne ranked the (2nd) highest out of (38) thirty-eight students. Another boy later joined the class and rank (3rd) third. This was at a time when most boys did business, auto mechanic, electrical, metal work, wood work or plumbing. It was challenging for him because he was teased by his fellow school mates. Elwayne knew exactly what he wanted and had no intention of letting peer pressure get the best of him. He considers himself a revolutionary, he is always about change when it is needed. Taking Home Economics was one of his first revolutionary moves.

Elwayne later migrated to the United States where he work doing odd jobs before working as a chef which he did for a number of years, but his poetical nature always prompted him to write, so he would write poems relating to what is happening in the world, he is a strong advocate for human rights and animal liberation. He also continues to compose music lyrics for all categories. His genre of music lyrics is always positive.

Elwayne is presently working as a construction worker, his cooking is now exclusively done only for friends and family, once again he's drawn to what moves him and a platform where his voice will be in print.
