About the Book
Like all of us I have been given a number of "gold coins" to invest by and for our Savior Jesus Christ. This manual on our faith and the current state of our Church is I pray a multiplication and proper use of the gifts loaned to me.
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." 1 Corinthians Chapter 12:4-8
I am compelled to write and compile this work for a variety of reasons. Foremost is the urgent need for an Orthodox, compelling, easy to read comprehensive source for all those who desire to teach and share our faith with our family and in our Church. It is an ideal Catechesis resource.
Working part-time with a strong sense of dedication, it has taken about five years to complete this work.
My mentor, Father John A. Hardon S.J. (Deceased: may he rest in peace.) was fond of reminding us that " we can't teach what we ourselves don't know or understand." If you wish to know a lot more about your Roman Catholic faith, you will find what you're seeking in this manual.
Included are bites of the collective Wisdom of Christ, and the Church Fathers of the past and present. There are a wide variety of topics and subjects to expose issues and topics seldom taught, discussed or explained in today's often-permissive catholic church.
We cover topics from prayer to Popes, Sacraments to Crucifixion, Truth to Saints, the proper role of the laity, include a Catholic resource guide and much more. We explain how our current Church culture came to be and how and where it's heading. The news is not all good.
This is a book I pray my kids and grandkids will read and take to heart. Read it, you'll likely feel the same way. There are many things, despite our attempts and desires that we must leave to the Holy Spirit. That too is a gift from God.
To be clear and fair, this is not a novel; it is a manual, formatted as "mini-books." that explain faithfully and clearly who we as Roman Catholics are called to be and how we are to live and share our faith. It is Traditional Orthodoxy in an abbreviated and easy to understand script. This Treasury will inform you about our Faith and the status of our Church and world today. It is filled with quotes of timeless wisdom.
It is my prayerful hope that you will enjoy and share it with those you love and those you catechize.
God's continued blessings,
Pat

excerpt from Chapter One - Talking with God: Prayer
Prayer is a sacred, often private, always willful and personal intercourse with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who Himself tells us, "All who the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. Jn: 6: 36-38. "All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Mt: 11: 27- 28 Prayer is the lifting of our minds and hearts to God, in thanksgiving, petition, intercession or adoration.
excerpt from Chapter Three - Free Will Does Not Mean Free Reign! How prayer worked in my life.
It is of extreme importance that we understand that a church not in obedience to God, is a church, being offered limited, perhaps even no graces from God. This reality is evident in the current blasphemous scandals recently brought to light, and those still ebbing their way to the light of truth.
excerpt from Chapter Seven - Our Catholic Church: Not perfect but still the best. A New Age is Dawning!
C.G. Jung is today of greater influence within the liberal, unorthodox, disobedient faction of our church, than is our Supreme Pontiff. Jung's is the origin and foundational theology of the pernicious leadership that is so vehemently and skillfully at work killing Christ's Catholic Church. Who is this man Jung, and what is his philosophy?
excerpt from Chapter Four - "Feed My lambs, Tend My sheep, Feed My sheep."
Peter's name is mentioned more often than all the other disciples put together: 191 times (162 as Peter or Simon Peter, 23 as Simon, and 6 as Cephas). John is next in frequency with only 48 appearances, and Peter is present 50% of the time we find John in the Bible! Archbishop Fulton Sheen reckoned that all the other disciples combined were mentioned 130 times. If this is correct, Peter is named a remarkable 60% of the time any disciple is referred to!
excerpt from JP II Encyclical Letter: Veritatis Splendor
This obedience is not always easy. As a result of that mysterious original sin, committed at the prompting of Satan, the one who is "a liar and the father of lies" ( Jn 8:44), man is constantly tempted to turn his gaze away from the living and true God in order to direct it towards idols (cf. 1 Thes 1:9), exchanging "the truth about God for a lie" (Rom 1:25). Man's capacity to know the truth is also darkened, and his will to submit to it is weakened. Thus, giving himself over to relativism and skepticism (cf. Jn 18:38), he goes off in search of an illusory freedom apart from truth itself.
excerpt from Chapter Thirteen - From The heart and mind of John Paul II
Much of the harm to our Church today has been forced through the vehicle of the association of Catholic Bishops (NCCB), have at times imposed their own (majority) desires of what they would have the Catholic Church be, despite vigorous and righteous opposition from Rome. Notable examples include: female altar servers, Holy Communion in the hand, Lay-folk conducting Communion services, unneeded and unwarranted Eucharistic ministers, the reservation tabernacle being removed to parts unknown, to take Christ away from you, and you away from Christ, and women commonly usurping roles intended only for men. Because "we can," by NO MEANS, requires that we should. I wish to make clear that while errant Bishops are today a majority, God remains firmly in charge, and continues to provide many courageous and obedient to Rome, holy Prelates. "By their fruits (actions), you shall know them." cf. Mt: 7: 16
