About the Book
Before committing to write this book, I took a short survey designed to investigate two things; is there a need for a book of this type, and if so, what should it include? The survey was very informal, and went something like this:
Based on Ephesians 2.8, "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith:"
1. What does it mean to you to be "Saved?"
2. What is the "grace" that saves you?
3. What is the "faith" that you are saved through?
4. Based on your response to these questions, do you consider yourself to be saved?
If you don't understand what these terms mean, you're not alone. This book is for you. I was one of those who, late in life became "saved". In the years before my salvation, many well-meaning friends would ask, "Are you saved?" My standard answer was, "Saved from what?" I can't honestly remember anyone explaining to me what it meant to be saved. In the twenty-one years since that time, I have come to the conclusion that being "saved" is not well understood, and the "grace" that saved you is even less understood.
My sole purpose in these writings is to explain what "saved by grace through faith" means, so that you, the reader, can make an informed decision on whether you want salvation or not. That decision, after all, does affect our eternity.
This book describes salvation and grace as it is taught by the God of the Bible. It focuses on three key verses, but touches on many others. Those key verses are: Ephesians 2:8-10, John 3:16, and Revelation 20:12-15.
I hope that you find the meaning of these verses interesting and useful. I do believe that you will find some surprises as you discover their meanings!
About the Author
Tony Ritter is a retired Nuclear Engineer who met God in a most personal way when he was forty-five years old. After finding that grace and salvation was not well understood, he decided to explain it in an understandable way. Over five years of in-depth study was done which resulted in the input to this book, which provides a fresh outlook on what God is doing to bring each of us into His fold. This is his first of two books being published at the same time, after writing many short articles for church publications. Tony lives with his wife, Mary Jane, dividing his time between Florida and Tennessee, depending on the weather.
