About the Book

Kosmic Consciousness’ examines the evolution of our social and cultural world, our physical and scientific world and finally our inner mind or subjective reality.

The Society section investigates where the meanings of the hunter gatherer created magical thinking. With the birth of the agricultural age, myths of gods and goddesses were developed and these myths were used to give individuals more power over the people. With a surplus of food, specialisation developed with new cultures and institutions. The great civilisations of Egypt, Rome and Greece transformed the world-views and lay down the foundations for many of our current beliefs and traditions. At present there is a decline in religious values and those in power have turned to psychology and fear as a means of control.

The science section shows the evolution of the universe from the Big Bang through to the birth of our planet. Plate tectonics and the geology of our planet correlates with the development of life. Evolution through natural selection led to the existence of humans. In the short time we have been here, we have dominated this planet and our technology is evolving at an expediential rate. The next stage in evolution will be un-natural selection.

The self section explores the development of the mind. By understanding the principles of how the mind organises itself, we can take control of our thinking and with Kosmic Consciousness we can all develop wisdom leading to self-actualization and enlightenment.

About the Author

Eric Coxall was an electrical engineer, but has always had a drive for understanding existence. For his own interests he studied with the Open University in Earth Sciences, Ecology, Neurology, Physiology and Molecular Biology. About fifteen years ago he was introduced to books by Rudolf Steiner on soul and spirit. He then joined the Theosophical Society and studied Occult Science and comparative religions. There was a dichotomy between the scientific knowledge and the spiritual ideas. To resolve the problem he trained as a hypnotherapist and then studied Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Neuro-semantics. In order to understand the Kosmos, it was necessary to link all of these fields together. The book Kosmic Consciousness is the result of years of study in many diverse fields which have been carefully glued together to create a comprehensive whole.
