About the Book

This powerful book was inspired from pain, passion, persistence, and the pursuit for peace. Domestic Violence: Both Sides of the Coin looks at male and female victims of domestic violence and why the batterer beats his or her victim. Women who are battered are considered heroes, while men who are battered are considered wimps. It explores the lopsidedness of the legal system, prejudices and biases. More importantly, it looks at what we can do to help the batterer stop beating. The book is a great resource and teaching tool to help individuals better understand domestic violence. Some resource topics include:

  • Who is a victim?
  • Why do men and women stay in the relationship?
  • How can I know if I'm in an abusive relationship?
  • Planning your escape?
  • How do I know if he or she has changed?
  • What is co-dependency?
  • How will I know the warning signs?
  • Can I re-build my self-esteem and image?
  • Who do I call for help?
  • And much more!
Some book chapters include:
  • Lack of Love
  • The Cycle Begins
  • The Abuse: Power and Control
  • Transition
  • The Healing Process
  • And much more in Between!

About the Author

She is a women who loves God. She is a compassionate loving mother, motivational speaker, workshop leader, facilitator, and does all with great sense of humor. She has served on various boards for domestic violence and presented at various medical institutions. She has survived rape, the suicide of her oldest son, and domestic violence. In all of these horrific experiences, she has pulled from her faith to serve others. It has been said that from pain great things have been birthed. As old folks say, "the proof is in the pudding." The author has truly proved to herself that no matter what the circumstances, life is good. She has pushed through her pain like a mother in labor. Through the pain she has given birth and stepped into the arena of authorship in helping to mend broken people. Her first book, Abused, Battered, Broken Hearted, and Restored, is her personal testimony of what life dealt her within a seven-year span. The book is full of hope and encouragement for people to understand that no matter what life deals you, you can make it.

The author unequivocally believes that the key to restoration is the healing of oneself and education. The author has for some years now been fortunate to sit under the mentorship and wisdom of great Christian and secular presenters. All of this has made her wiser and productive in life. She has learned that if you are hurting anywhere, you are hurting everywhere. She stresses that you MUST learn to forgive yourself and all people for all things. She has learned that in order to be healed and move on from the pain of domestic violence, (which left her disfigured in her face and beaten almost to death); she had to forgive her batterer.

Her assignment is to help hurting people learn how to be healed and move on, especially in the area of domestic violence. She is committed to helping the batterer get healed too. She realizes that no one wins in this situation (victim, batterer, children, etc.). She has committed herself to understanding why the batterer does what they do (male or female). The author endeavors to boldly go where most people dare to in this area by continuing to write books and educate as many people, community organizations, school, ministries, law enforcement, behavioral therapist, professionals and medical institutions. Her style of presentation is insightful and relaxing. Her favorite saying is "We Need Each Other".
