About the Book
In my 88 years I saw history in the making and saw how the powers that be, sanitized the events to embellish their image. I wrote for my family's edification, as I saw fit.
I was a child of the Great Depression, a warrior in World War II. Served 3 years, two of them with the 8th Army Air Force in Europe, came home, married, went to college and finished my education. Received a degree in Architecture. I watched how the working poor struggled and fought to unionize before they obtained a fair living wage, pensions and medical insurance. They went on to create a Middle Class Society that produced a cadre of intelligent and gifted men whose inventions and entrepreneural skills made us great and a world innovater. Our nation prospered, became wealthy and is now a world super power (and a bumbling world crusader).
Inflation bodes dire consequences for all. In the 1940s and 50s, one could build or buy a house for $6000. Today it is reselling for $300 000 plus. I remember buying a quart of whole milk for 5 cents, today I pay $3 for a gallon of watered down milk.
The longer our government puts off repaying the trillions it owes the cheap the money gets. Guess who gets the shaft?
Unfortunately for us, Bush Senior and Bush Junior have stirred a hornet's nest in the Middle East which will plague you the rest of your days. Insurgents, terrorists, Al Qaeda and bin Laden are busy in Iraq frustrating American might and when that plays out, America's European allies and American Industries off-shore may receive more trouncing. It could be they are saving a grand finale for America, a nuclear blast.
One more note: with Globalization we lost our edge, now it's China's day in the sun.
George, you blew it.
