About the Book
Two worlds collide in the compelling beginning of an earth shattering war of annihilation. As hostile invaders of immense proportions and their powerful fiery allies have discovered an arcane gateway to the rich and resourceful planet of Atlas.
The powerful Romanesque human Eastern Suleric Empire has its eyes and armies locked on conquering other nations to the east, while a dire threat evolves in the west.
A new distinctive Avokite - a group of special agents that secretly operate on behalf of the empire - is assembled to track down the evil renegade wizard, Recna. Sir Roak Olidberg, a charitable holy knight, leads the unit, supported by two very talented wizards, a devout priestess, and four brave warriors. Unknown to them the invading armies spill into the western kingdom of Car'nehge, subjugate the goblin population and embark on their greedy crusade of blazing destruction.
The peaceful neighboring nations of Keilstrom and Barrenrift struggle to mobilize their defenses, or seek peace, against the marauding giants.
Roak and his companions get off to an inauspicious start, and several members begin to suspect they may be sheltering a traitor among them. They struggle to agree on their best approach as they penetrate further into Recna's domain. Their enemies grow faster than they wish as the hunt for Recna falters.
The Avokites finally seem to get on track when they stumble into a desperate situation, in which all of them might not survive...About the Author
James DeBenedetti calls Portland Oregon home. He loves the rain, which accentuates the natural beauties of his home state.
He dozed through high school and lacked direction after graduation. Without much purpose he entered the U.S.A.F. A rebel to the core, he discovered his military career was unsatisfying and left displeased with its bureaucracy and hypocrisy. He still considers himself to be an ardent patriot proud to have served his country.
After four years in the military he left to pursue a degree in Architecture. This also turned out to be unsatisfying and difficult to find job opportunities. He decided to transfer to obtain a business degree. One day he still dreams of designing his own dream home somewhere near the beach.
When not writing novels he can be found vacationing at the beach, skiing the slopes, playing computer games - "that's what computers are for." - Night clubbing, working out, watching hockey and football, racing go-karts, sipping on a mocha at Starbucks or having a pint of Guinness or other craft-brewed beer at the local brewpub, are favorite past times.
A college writing professor once noted upon reading several of James' short stories that his writing was a cross between J.R.R Tolkien and Monty Python. "Ive since toned down my slapstick and tried to refine my grasp of sarcasm. It's tough because all through out my life, I've been taught that it is offensive."
The Annihilation Wars Series have been 'brewing' in his mind for years. "Pieces seem to come to my mind through divine providence," and not even he knows how the epic story ends.
