About the Book
One day a bear was born with a very big tail and was teased by everyone. When he grew up he searched for the magic wishing well, and when he found it he wished for his tail to change. However, the wishing well played a trick on him and turned his tail into a penny. He becomes known as Pennybottom Bear. Pennybottom goes on a search for a home where he will fit in. He finally finds happiness in a town filled with animals that had made the same wish at the same wishing well. Pennybottom teaches everyone to be thankful for what they have.
About the Author
Sue Olson Gee grew up on a farm near Milan, a small town in West Central Minnesota. She and her husband and son have lived in Colorado, Arizona and various cities in Minnesota. After their son graduated from college and moved to Northeast Wisconsin, Sue and her husband followed and have lived there for more than two years.
Along with working several years in the secretarial and travel field, Sue started wood crafting in her spare time. She enjoys designing and creating whimsical holiday decorations. About four years ago she made a Christmas tree ornament which she named Pennybottom Bear. The ornament sported a penny for a tail and she wrote a little story to accompany the ornament, explaining the bear's peculiar tail. Family and friends enjoyed the story and urged her to write and illustrate a children's story book about Pennybottom Bear. Pennybottom Bear and the Tale of his Tail was born.
Sue has written another book for middle readers that will be published in the near future.
