About the Book
This little book is a collection of stories about practicing healers and physicians making discoveries in medicine or treatments, later to form the basis of present-day medical practice. It uses a simplified vocabulary suitable for beginners, Special Needs or students without English as a first language. Some general information is included. Some words are articulated and some explained.
About the Author
Barbara Davis was educated at the North London Collegiate School, Reading University, London School of Economics, Oxford Brookes University, Technical College and Correspondence College. Here she gained: master's and bachelor's degrees, the P.G>C.E and F.E.T.C. she has twenty-five years experience in Education at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels, also in Special Education 9deaf School) and Adult Evening class. This has been for Middlesex, Inner London, Cornwall and Oxfordshire County Councils. She also has experience of private tutorial work and lecturing for charitable institutions.
She has published two school books, one with Thorsons for teenagers, (English ISBN:072250167) with two editions and versions in four languages; and one with Brockhamptons (English ISBN:0340 038047) for Upper Juniors, with an American edition, on the Schools List, there.
On a personal level, she has shared her life with two successive partners, both now deceased, has one step-daughter, on son and hundreds of students. Her hobbies are home-making, gardening, sewing, writing and chatting.
